About La Bise

La Bise is French for the kiss. We search the Adelaide Hills vineyards for quality fruit to produce the wines that are “true” to that vineyard and express the flavours of the grapes. We often find vineyards in need of love and attention and by rejuvenating these vineyards we give them “the kiss of life”.

Wines under the La Bise label come from vineyards that I believe have benefited from this magical “kiss of life”.

La Bise offers interesting parcels of fruit that are not always available but are always something different.

A fresh dry, crisp and floral white variety originating from the northwestern Italian wine region of Piedmont. Low in alcohol, Arneis (ahrneez) is a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris.

Le Petite Frais: “The small fresh one”

Made to a drier style, our Rose is predominately Sangiovese and Tempranillo sourced from the Adelaide Hills.

Pronounced with a silent double “l”, this red variety originates from Rioja, Spain. Fruit driven, usually plum and strawberry, Tempranillo is low in acid and tannins, making it an approachable and food friendly wine.

Arguably one of the world’s most recognised grape varieties.  Ours is sourced from a favourite vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, and the cooler climate gives this Shiraz a distinctive edge.

Prefer your wines preservative free and sourced from sustainable vineyards? La Bise Organic Shiraz ticks these boxes and tastes delicious, to boot.

Translated as the “blood of Judas”, this popular red variety is a native of Italy. Fruit driven with cherry characters, it is an earthy, medium bodied wine that Italians traditionally enjoy with their meals.

Sangiovese is the most widely planted Italian red variety and produces some of the most expensive wines in the world. The Adelaide Hills region is well suited to this red varietal. The flavours are spice, white pepper and briary red fruits like mulberry. It’s a mouth full of flavour and well suited to pizza.
